Texas Inspection Requirements Have Changed

Beginning in 2025, Texas eliminated annual safety inspections for most non-commercial passenger vehicles. However, vehicles registered in Travis County, including Austin, may still require an annual emissions inspection before registration can be renewed. Commercial vehicles continue to require safety inspections under Texas law.
